Nick Lake - Chair of Board

I was born, raised and educated in South London, finishing my education at Tiffin's Grammar school, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey.

Nick LakeMy working career began on the Thames within the family boat business, before moving into engineering in 1963 to begin a career for an American company specializing in precise metal production and fabrication, for whom I became a production and plant manager before deciding to move to Cornwall in 1976.

Whilst in Cornwall, which I love, I ran two retail businesses before entering the public house sector at The Countryman, Piece in 1984. I still run and enjoy The Countryman, as well as managing a small group of nine public houses here in Cornwall, namely The Countryman Inn's.

I, and my businesses, are very active in the charity sector and I personally have for many years been a governor of Rosemellin School and more recently a governor of Pool business and Enterprise College.

I currently hold the following positions:

  • Trustee and Chair of The Pirate Trust
  • Governor and Chair of Rosemellin School
  • Trustee and Chair of Rosemellin Goosebury Bush
  • Governor of Pool Business and Enterprise College
  • Trustee of Active Eight Charity
  • Trustee of Carn Brea Leisure Centre

I am actively supportive of the Rosemellin children's centre's endeavors to provide an extensive new facility for the community as well as the children of the Roskear and Rosemellin area. I currently Chair a community interest company set up for this purpose as well as the various committees that currently exist to help achieve our children's centre objectives.
